Last Chance: Enter The Weinberg Nature Center's Coloring Contest

In conjunction with the Annual Spring Festival at the on May 20, the Friends of Weinberg Nature Center are holding the annual coloring and computer art contest. This year the contest highlights all turtle species.

Entries must be received by the at Scarsdale Village Hall OR at the Trailside Museum at the , 455 Mamaroneck Road, Scarsdale, NY 10583 by the deadline on Monday, May 14 at 5:00 p.m.

The contest is open to all pre-school and elementary age students residing in or attending school in Scarsdale, or who are members of the Friends of the Weinberg Nature Center.

Entries will be judged by grade and age, both of which should be noted on the back of the drawing along with the entrant’s name, address and telephone number.

Pre-schoolers may use a page from a coloring book but those in grades Kindergarten through five must draw the picture of the animal in its appropriate habitat on a blank, 8 1/2 x 11 piece of white paper. Original, computer artwork will also be accepted.

The judges will consider creativity, neatness, originality, attractiveness, decoration and the relation of the animal with its habitat. The entrant’s phone number may be needed to verify originality.

First through fourth place winners will be notified by mail the week of May 14, and all will be presented with special prizes during an awards ceremony on Sunday, May 20 at 3:15 p.m. during the Festival at the Weinberg Nature Center.

All coloring contest entrants and one family member will be admitted free to the day's events. You must inform us at the welcome table as you enter. Those that cannot attend may make arrangements to pick up their prizes.

Members of the Friends of the Weinberg Nature Center, Inc. will be charged half price. The regular admission is $7 per person and children under 2 are free.
