Resident Sends Students on Trip of a Lifetime Through His Nonprofit

Patch readers told us who the "Everyday Inspirations" in their communities are, and we're sharing their stories and the work they've done locally.

Everyday Inspirations is a series that features people in Patch communities who inspire others through their work, or people who have faced extraordinary situations and grown from them. They have been featured by other people in the community that have been inspired by the nominees.

Name: Stan Rosenberg
Town: Scarsdale, NY

Why is this person an "Everyday Inspiration?"
Stan Rosenberg is an "Everyday Inspiration" because of his relentless pursuit to inspire others, especially those in underprivileged communities, through travel. Back in 2008, as a high school junior, Stan started Trip of a Lifetime, a nonprofit organization that provides student travel scholarships, and has grown it into a nationally recognized organization.

Since its inception, Trip of a Lifetime has raised over $325,000, and has provided 31 students with summer travel scholarships (it is sending an additional 10-15 students on trips this summer).

In addition, the organization has signed a corporate partnership with American Express, been featured in the Wall Street Journal, and has won awards from the Rotary Club, New York Post, and NYU. Stan's involvement with Trip of a Lifetime shows that with hard work and passion, students can truly achieve anything.

Has the nominee's life been changed in an extraordinary way?

In 2007, Stan went on a teen tour (an organized three week travel trip), and the experience changed his life. Before his trip, Stan was shy and reserved, afraid to grasp new opportunities but expanding his horizons changed this and more.

Stan gained self-confidence and leadership skills and used the trip to both start Trip of a Lifetime and run for Class President his Junior and Senior years of High School (which he won both times).

How does this person work to make others' lives better?

Through his work with Trip of a Lifetime, Stan has directly improved the lives of 31 students and has impacted even more indirectly. Every recipient of a Trip of a Lifetime scholarship is required to give back to their community, creating an even greater impact.

Stan also mentors students who are passionate about social impact, both through Trip of a Lifetime and at NYU Stern, where he is currently a senior assistant for the Martin Luther King Scholars Honors Program.
