Volunteers Give Warm Winter Clothing for Veterans

Volunteers donated, collected and distributed clothing at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Montrose on Dec. 20.

“During this Season of Giving we are mindful that there are many, many people who lack the basic necessities of life – food, shelter, and clothing. In 2012, our Veteran's Hospitals served more than 240,000 Veterans who were homeless or at risk of becoming homeless- 21 percent more than the year before,” said Father Thomas Lutz, Chairman of state Senator Greg Ball’s Faith Based Advisory Council, in a written statement.

Ball (R,C,I-Patterson) and members of his advisory committees took donations including shirts, pants, diabetic socks, underwear, warm coats, gloves, hats and shoes.

“It is getting very cold and some of these veterans are in dire need of warm clothing,” said Eugene Parrotta, Chairman of Senator Greg Ball’s Veterans Advisory Council, in the same statement. “We appreciate Senator Ball and his team for everything they do for our veterans. Using the Senator’s large network, we should be able to collect a large amount of clothing for our veterans this winter.”

Ball will continue the clothing drive throughout the winter. Residents that would like to drop off clothing can visit his District Office during normal business hours at 1441 Route 22, Suite 205 in Brewster, NY 10509.
