Fascinating World of Cork

A look at the 100+ year history of cork tile as beautiful, sustainable option for commercial and residential interiors.  See how cork makes its journey from the bark of a tree to bottle stoppers to tiles. This rapidly renewable, recycled material is among the most sustainable floor and wall covering materials available.  If you are unfamiliar with cork, this educational session will introduce you to a new option for interior finishes and if you know cork but are uncertain about using it, we will answer your questions about this unique material and how to properly specify the material, including installation and maintenance.

Presented by Christopher Capobianco, a fourth generation floor coverer whose 33 year career includes experience as a floor covering retailer, architectural sales representative, technical support manager, consultant, writer, educator and activist.   He is a manufacturer's representative for  several unique floor covering products such as Capri Cork and Green Choice Flooring, which are sold through Green Design Expo and on display in our showroom.

An authority on resilient floor coverings and the relationship of concrete floors to floor covering installations, Christopher is well known as an author, speaker, industry activist, volunteer and board member for several organizations involved with training, industry standards and certification.  For example, as an 18 year ASTM member, he chairs the new ASTM Task group that is developing a new standard for Cork Floor tile.  His training seminars get rave reviews because of his "plain English"  delivery and causal style that encourages audience involvement and welcomes Q&A.
