The announced changes in the leadership of its Board of Directors.
Ophira Cukierman of Scarsdale, and Peter Rothschild also of Scarsdale, will serve as Board Co-Presidents, replacing Karen Spar Kasner and Roger Kahn. Kasner will remain on the Board to focus on development and fundraising, and Kahn will continue to serve on the Board as Treasurer.
Cukierman has dedicated her time, energy and talent to the JCC since 2010, most recently as Board Member and PTA President of the JCC Early Childhood Center. She lives in Scarsdale with her husband Joram and their three children, all of whom have participated in the JCC Early Childhood program as well as numerous after-school programs. At its Spring Gala, Cukierman was honored with the JCC’s Young Leadership Award in recognition of her ongoing efforts to bring renewed energy and programming to the JCC.
“This agency would not be where it is today without the hard work and dedication of the staff in concert with the Board and specifically with the tireless hours Karen Kasner and Roger Kahn have spent on JCC initiatives and revitalization,” said Cukierman.
“Karen was also particularly instrumental in organizing this year’s very successful JCC Gala, appropriately themed “Celebrating Our Revitalization”, which really set the table for us to continue the momentum she and Roger started in moving the JCC in a positive direction”, said Rothschild. “I am looking forward to working with our dynamic board and the JCC staff as we continue to strengthen the agency’s presence in the community.”
In transitioning from his role as a member of the Executive Committee to Co-President of the Board, Rothschild is excited about the opportunities for the Agency. A seasoned finance and management professional who currently helps run investment firm Tamarix Capital, Rothschild, believes strongly in the role that the JCC plays within the community. He and his wife, Elana, grew up in Wilmington, DE, where they were active members of the local JCC. They currently live in Scarsdale with their son and daughter. “The JCC has been an important hub for our family over the last several years, and I hope to encourage others to experience the dynamic educational and after-school programs here”, Rothschild said.
Wayne Goldstein of Mamaroneck will continue to serve as JCC Secretary. Other continuing members of the Board of Directors are Alan Annex, Scarsdale; Eileen Bloom, Scarsdale; Ron Burton, New Rochelle; Loren Gilberg, Scarsdale; Suzan Rozin, Scarsdale; Jacques Steinberg, Larchmont; Marcy Vinder, Scarsdale; and Jennifer Weinberg, Scarsdale.
