This weekend is an important weekend for those in the Christian and Jewish communities. Today is Good Friday, followed by the First Day of Passover and then the Easter holiday on Sunday.
Across Westchester County, communities are coming together to celebrate their religious holidays with dinners, worship services and egg hunts.
In Scarsdale, the youngsters got a head-start on their Passover holiday. held a Passover Feast on Thursday. The feast included skits, songs and lots of food. The children, ages two to five, learned about the history of and enjoyed a Seder dinner.
At 6 p.m. on Friday, April 6, the Family Shabbat Dinner is being held at .
Over in Peekskill, the is holding live Stations of the Cross Friday at 12:00 p.m. About 50-75 parishioners will be in costume and acting out the stations, according to Advancement Director Audrey Warn.
"Also, known as the Way of the Cross, this ancient devotion is practiced especially during Lent as a means of recreating the last hours of Jesus’ walk to Calvary and His crucifixion," she said.
In White Plains, is celebrating Holy Week with services on Good Friday at 7:00 p.m., Easter Saturday at 6:00 p.m. and Easter Sunday at 9:00 a.m. and 10:45 a.m.
On Saturday, several towns are holding egg hunts to involve the kids in the season.
There are two Easter Egg hunts, one per village, in Sleepy Hollow and Tarrytown. Sleepy Hollow's is at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in and Tarrytown's is at 11 a.m. in .
Over in Scarsdale, there is the annual starting at 10:00 a.m. includes an egg hunt for the kiddos, a visit from the Holiday Bunny and a magic show.
Among many options for worship on Sunday, here is one for the early birds. The has its annual sunrise Easter service, at 6:27 a.m. to be exact, at the Old Dutch Church on 430 North Broadway, Sleepy Hollow.
And in Scarsdale, a sunrise service at 6:30 a.m. and a later morning service at 10:00 a.m. Sunday.
