Karl Erik Peterson: Scarsdale Family Shocked by Tappan Zee Bridge Death

The family of Karl Erik Peterson - the 29-year-old Scarsdale man who jumped to his death from the  Tappan Zee Bridge Wednesday - has been "blindsided" by his passing, according to a report in the Journal News.

Peterson, who went by Erik, was the art director for Mamaroneck-based Motif Designs, sang in several bands and cared for a dog he loved named Goliath.

"Erik was a completely unique individual, who from the start was carving his own path and had very grand dreams for what his path was supposed to be," Paul Peterson, Erik's younger brother, told the Journal News. "It was very easy for the rest of us to see that he was a great designer, handsome and funny, but he always had trouble believing in himself."
