Benjamin Boykin wins the Independence Party Primary

Ben Boykin won the Independence Party Primary in County Legislative District 5 on Tuesday September 10, 2013 in Scarsdale by an 8 to 5 victory over Miriam Leavitt-Flisser.  Overall Ben won with 29 votes in Scarsdale and White Plains to Flisser's 10 votes.(Flisser's numbers are incomplete because they were a write in vote when she won an Opportunity to Ballot. By her doing so she challenged the right of the Independence Party leadership who chose Ben Boykin as their candidate.  This election cost Scarsdale taxpayers between $25,000 -$30,000  or approximately $2,000 for each vote cast.  Ben Boykin now has the Democratic Party, the Working Families, and the Independence Party lines in the November election.Miriam Flisser will have the Republican and Conservative Party lines.
