franks nursery RFP to be discussed Tuesday

At Tuesdays' Town Board work session I will ask the Town Board to issue an RFP for the sale of Frank's. My suggestion:

we give all parties until February 1st to submit a bid. We accept the highest bid --no conditions. The cleanup will be paid for by the new owners. No tax breaks. 100% of the purchase price must be paid at closing--a significant deposit must be given when the award is announced. And closing must take place within a reasonable period.  The Town Board will release the proposed comprehensive plan to the public this fall so that all the potential purchasers will have an idea what kinds of development could happen on that property. I continue to believe that the town should rezone properties on Dobbs Ferry Road  to allow for recreation uses. Creating a recreation zone on Dobbs Ferry Road will also enhance the chances of helping the Golf Range stay in business. Other potential uses: single family homes.

I want to keep you informed. I think we should open up the bids on or around Feb 1st. This will give all the parties adequate time to do their due diligence and to decide if they really want to make an offer.

Everyone can bid. I will support selling the property to the party that gives the town the best deal.

The Town Board will also discuss the proposed lease for the WESTHELP affordable housing initiative on Tuesday morning at our work session.  Our work session begins at 9:30 AM.
