Greenburgh Trustees Settle Police Contract, Hire Auctioneer to Sell Frank's Property

Greenburgh police officers will receive a 2.35 percent pay increase for both last year and this year.

The following recap of Wednesday night's Greenburgh Board of Trustrees meeting is from Town Supervisor Paul Feiner.

In it, he discusses the new police contract, the hiring of GA Keen Realty to help sell the former Frank's Nursery property, and additional development at the Greenburgh facility where the New York Rangers practice.

Below is the text of Feiner's summary:

The Town Board had a productive  meeting on Wednesday night.

We authorized the hiring of GA Keen Realty Advisors to act as our real estate advisor and to conduct an auction for the sale of the former Frank's nursery property on Dobbs Ferry Road. We will meet with Harold Bordwin (a former Edgemont resident and director of the firm) shortly to schedule a date for the auction--probably in late September.

The Board also settled a contract with the Police Association from January 1,2013 to December 31,2014. The police will receive 2.35% increases for both years.  Under New York State law if a municipality and the police are unable to resolve labor disputes (over salaries) an arbitrator hears the case and imposes salary hikes on the locality. It's a big risk to go to arbitration. And, arbitration hearings are expensive for the town.

We also approved the use of developer (non taxpayer dollars) escrow funds to develop a splash pad at Massaro park The splash area will attract more children to the park.

We took a major step forward re: development of the Landmark at Eastview properties (the site where Madison Square Garden has their training facilities ---and where the Rangers train).  We declared lead agency under the Environmental Quality Review Act and referred the action to the Planning Board for their recommendations.
