PROUD OF GREENBURGH POLICE ROLE IN RESCUE OF WORKER

The Greenburgh police department helped rescue a Tarrytown parks and recreation employee who fell through the ice today. Great job!
PAUL FEINER

Just wanted to let you know that at approximately 11:00am this morning, our Technical Rescue Team was requested by the Tarrytown Police Department to assist with a water rescue at the Tarrytown Lakes. A Department of Tarrytown Parks and Recreation employee was clearing snow off of the ice, in anticipation of weekend ice skating on the lake, when the tractor he was operating fell through the ice. The tractor and the operator were submerged in the frigid water. Upon our arrival, the operator was attempting to get out of the water. The tractor fell through the ice approximately 250 feet from the shore, and the operator was walking to shore when we arrived. He was in the water approximately 10 minutes. Our team stabilized the vehicle in the water the ice and directed the recovery of the tractor from the water without further incident.  (Tarrytown FD personnel and Stiloski’s heavy duty tow truck/wrecker assisted.)

Respectfully,
Chief Chris McNerney
