Greenburgh Town Board Meets with Regional Representative of NYS Dept. of Transportation

The Greenburgh Town Board met with William Gorton, Regional representative of the NYS Department of Transportation, State Senator Andrea Stewart Cousins and Assemblyman Tom Abinanti yesterday at our Town Board work session.  We discussed many issues - among them the deteriorating road conditions on West Hartsdale Ave and the need to repave the street. I learned that the road was scheduled for repaving a few years ago but funds were cut out of the budget.  We asked the DOT to accelerate road repaving on that street.  We discussed the eyesore on Dobbs Ferry Road/Sprain Parkway. Mr. Gorton indicated that after emergencies they need a staging area to dump trees, etc...but they would try limiting the use of the area as a dumping ground. He also was receptive to the suggestion to screen the staging area.

I also asked the state if they would be willing to enter into an agreement with the town --the town would repave state roads, clean litter from state roads if the state doesn't have the resources --and the town would be reimbursed for the work we do.

The entire work session is archived on our website (link below). The portion of the meeting with Mr. Gorton, Senator Cousins and Assemblyman Abinanti begins 27 minutes into the tape.  Many other issues were discussed during the meeting. I have asked for transcripts to be made of the meeting which will be available to the public --we should have them in about two weeks.
