The Bloomington Police Department is investigating whether skeletal remains found in Illinois are connected to the case of and Edgemont resident
According to a report on the IndyStar.com today, police are awaiting DNA results from the remains.
told the IndyStar.com that the "body was found in mid-March in Newton, Ill., about a hundred miles west of Bloomington."
Spierer has been missing since June of 2011, after she had been out with a group of friends.
Her parents and family still live in the Edgemont neighborhood of Scarsdale.

In February, her parents, Rob and Charlene Spierer, announced a reward of $250,000 for any information that leads to finding their daughter. The family , including Scarsdale Patch, in Feburary:
Our daughter Lauren Spierer, an Indiana University student, disappeared June 3, 2011 in Bloomington, IN. We continue to seek information, which will lead us to finding Lauren and the circumstances surrounding her disappearance. The New Yorker was last seen on 11th Street and College Avenue in Bloomington, IN, on June 3, 2011. Lauren is 4'11" tall, 95 pounds, with blonde hair, blue eyes, and last seen wearing black pants and a white tank top with a white top.
On March 2, 2012, Lauren's mother Charlene Spierer wrote a letter on her blog, addressing the person or person's who may have information on her whereabouts.
Titled, "You know where she is," the Westchester mother wrote:
You and I share unique roles; we are both insiders, forever bound by the senseless circumstances of June 3, 2011. You were with Lauren, you know what happened and you know where she is.
