Scarsdale honored its public safety members at the annual awards ceremonies on Friday, October 12, at Crossways Firehouse. The village gathered to honor outstanding members of the Scarsdale Police Department, Scarsdale Fire Department and Scarsdale Volunteer Ambulance Corps.

The awards ceremony recognized the meritorious service of Scarsdale's uniformed, and for the first time, volunteer responders. Of specific note was the awarding of Scarsdale's first Medal of Honor by Fire Chief Thomas Cain.

Scarsdale Village officials who addressed the assembled group included: Mayor Miriam Levitt Flisser, Police Chief John Brogan, Deacon Ted Gaskin, the Scarsdale Fire Department Chaplain, Village Manager Al Gatta, SVAC President David Raizen and Fire Chief Thomas Cain. Police Commissioner Jon Mark and Fire Commissioner Kay Eisenman also spoke to the assembly and assisted in the presentations. SHS student Sophie Laruelle sung the National Anthem at the service.
