Lauren Spierer's Parents Address Possible Suspects, Push For Finding Daughter

The family of missing is speaking out, putting out a call to specific people who they believe are involved in the case, and losing hope that their daughter will be found alive.

In Bloomington, Indiana, on Monday, when The Journal News asked the parents if they believe their daughter is still alive, her mother Charlene said, "'I don't.'"

Her father Rob told The Journal News, “'We’re trying to be realistic.  We know that if she had the chance to reach out to us, she would have done it.'”

In an interview with Fox59 News in Bloomington, Indiana, on Monday, Rob and Charlene Spierer told the station that those who know something about their daughter's disappearance need to come forward.

"'I think for some reason, they're afraid and I simply don't understand it,'" Rob Spierer told Fox59 News.

It has been almost one year since the and Edgemont resident disappeared.

Twenty-year-old Spierer has been missing since June 3, 2011, after she had been out partying with a group of friends in Bloomington.

Her parents and family still live in the Edgemont neighborhood of Scarsdale. A voicemail left by Scarsdale Patch for Spierer's mother was not immediately returned this morning.

Yesterday, the parents were in their daughter's college town to address the media.

Her father told Fox that a person of interest in the case, Cory Rossman, is not helping the investigation.

"It's been impossible to get information from Cory Rossman, because he refuses to speak to us," said Rob Spierer.

Rossman was with Spierer the night of her disappearance. He has told investigators he was punched that night and cannot recall anything.

“'I feel if she never met Corey Rossman, she’d be alive today,” Rob told The Journal News . “'His claim of memory loss is laughable.'”

Jay Rosenbaum, Rossman's then neighbor and the host of the party the group had attended at the Bloomington bar that night, is another person of interest in the case.

The Spierer's say he has spoken to them, but seems to be withholding information and using a “'story line,'” they told the Journal News.

The New Yorker was last seen on 11th Street and College Avenue in Bloomington, IN, on June 3, 2011. Lauren is 4'11" tall, 95 pounds, with blonde hair, blue eyes, and last seen wearing black pants and a white tank top with a white top.
