Police: Vandals Strike Scarsdale

Excerpts from the Scarsdale Police Log. The following information was supplied by the Scarsdale Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Vandals caused a bit of mischief this past week in Scarsdale.

A shed at the village's compost site had $800 worth of damage done after an unknown person smashed several windows, according to Scarsdale Police. A village employee reported the incident to police on September 27. Police could not determine the exact date and time of when the the damages occurred.

Over on Tisdale Road, a resident reported to SPD that someone damaged his $250 lamp post during the overnight/early morning hours of September 16-17. The resident told SPD that this is third time this year his lamp post has been vandalized, according to the police log. Police spoke to neighbors, canvassed the area and took photos of the damage.

And on Brite Avenue, an Ossining woman whom parked her car on the street prior to moving it into a driveway reported that her rear window had been broken, causing an estimated $10,000 in damages, according to the police report. SPD took a deposition and photos of the damages, which occurred on September 19.

If this is happening in a community like Scarsdale, then as a taxpayer I am irritated. Where are allRead More the taxes going if teachers are paying for their own classroom supplies? There has to be some degree of accountability regarding our tax dollars. We are the highest-taxed county in the nation and we can't afford notebooks and post-it notes? As a community member, I am not going to "lend a hand." I already do that with my tax dollars.
