A 60-year-old Elmsford woman was arrested at 2:30 a.m. this morning after police said she was driving the wrong way on the Sprain Brook Parkway.

New York State Police said in a press release that a caller reported witnessing the driver heading north in the Sprain's southbound lanes early this morning.

The car was pulled over with the assistance of Westchester County and Yonkers Police, troopers reported.

"Captain Joseph Barca of the Yonkers Police Department followed [the driver] with lights and sirens activated alerting other motorists of the potential danger coming their way," state police said. "[She] traveled approximately three miles before finally coming to a stop for police."

After the stop, police determined the driver was intoxicated. She was issued tickets and is due back in City of Yonkers Justice Court on November 1.

Note: Arrests do not indicate convictions.
