Police: Man Crashes Car in Scarsdale Then Kicks Officers

Police say Anthony Maddalena, 27, crashed his car while driving drunk on the Bronx River Parkway in Scarsdale. When officers got to the crash, they say they smelled alcohol on his breath.

Officers arrested the Carmel man and put him into the back of the police car and handcuffed him. But Maddalena was able to move his hands from behind his back to the front. When officers tried to handcuff him again, police say he kicked two officers and injured a third officer when they got their thumb caught in the handcuffs.

Maddalena faces felony assault, speeding, disorderly conduct, harassment and drunken driving charges.

No other cars were involved in the crash. Maddalena is being held in the Westchester County Jail. He is due back in court Wednesday.
