Scarsdale Couple Scares Off Generator Thieves

Excerpts from the Scarsdale Police Log. The following information was supplied by the Scarsdale Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

A Ferncliff Road couple scared off would-be thieves who were attempting to steal their $3,000 generator on Saturday.

According to the Scarsdale Police report, the wife heard a vehicle idling in front of their home. She looked outside and noticed a sedan and an SUV and two men "on her front lawn attempting to remove her generator."

The couple opened their front door, scaring off the thieves, who fled in their vehicles toward the Edgewood School, according to police.

Police said the generator, keeping their home powered up post-Hurricane Sandy, was on the front lawn and close to the road. Police advised the residents to move the generator a bit closer to their home.

Police searched for the crooks to no avail.

If this is happening in a community like Scarsdale, then as a taxpayer I am irritated. Where are allRead More the taxes going if teachers are paying for their own classroom supplies? There has to be some degree of accountability regarding our tax dollars. We are the highest-taxed county in the nation and we can't afford notebooks and post-it notes? As a community member, I am not going to "lend a hand." I already do that with my tax dollars.
