Scarsdale Family Had Generator Swiped, Cops Say

$600 piece of equipment goes missing, according to reports.

An Oneida Road family had their back-yard generator pilfered when they stepped out, Scarsdale police said.

The husband, 38, told police he and his wife left their home for about three hours last Saturday afternoon—and when they returned, their $600 generator had been swiped.

The couple's generator had been visible from the street, according to police, and their back-yard gate was ajar when they returned. The alleged thief left an identical generator just 15-feet away.

Police spoke with a neighbor, who said he did not witness the possible theft.

Scarsdale authorities are treating the case as a petty larceny.

If this is happening in a community like Scarsdale, then as a taxpayer I am irritated. Where are allRead More the taxes going if teachers are paying for their own classroom supplies? There has to be some degree of accountability regarding our tax dollars. We are the highest-taxed county in the nation and we can't afford notebooks and post-it notes? As a community member, I am not going to "lend a hand." I already do that with my tax dollars.
