Scarsdale Man Victim of Identity Theft: Cops

Man could lose nearly $3K, police say.

A Scarsdale man had his identity stolen and was possibly bilked out of nearly $3,000, Scarsdale police said.

The resident—a 42-year-old Brown Road man—told cops last week that he received a missive from an online billing company. The business informed him that someone posed as him to buy a Hewlett Packard computer with a hefty price tag.

The computer ran about $2,936.66, cops said.

Police said the Scarsdale man has not yet had the money withdrawn from his account. Authorities are treating the case as an identity theft, a class D felony.

If this is happening in a community like Scarsdale, then as a taxpayer I am irritated. Where are allRead More the taxes going if teachers are paying for their own classroom supplies? There has to be some degree of accountability regarding our tax dollars. We are the highest-taxed county in the nation and we can't afford notebooks and post-it notes? As a community member, I am not going to "lend a hand." I already do that with my tax dollars.
