Scarsdale PD: Burglar Strikes Circle Road Home

Excerpts from the Scarsdale Police Log. The following information was supplied by the Scarsdale Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Another burglar struck a Scarsdale home over the holidays.

Scarsdale Police responded to a burglar alarm call for a Circle Road home on December 29. SPD found a kitchen door had been damaged, an outer storm window forced off and a glass pane of a kitchen door shattered. Police found the door open, according to the police report.

Police discovered fresh footprints in the snow, "apparently made by the suspect as he fled the area."

During the investigation, a neighbor told SPD that he "observed a strange individual in the backyard...He described the individual as a male of average size and weight, wearing a black jacket, a black hat, dark-colored pants and a large black book bag," the report states.

Police called the homeowner, who was returning from vacation. Once he arrived and inspected the house, he found the thief stole a wooden jewelry box containing costume jewelry from the master bedroom.

Police are investigating the case.

If this is happening in a community like Scarsdale, then as a taxpayer I am irritated. Where are allRead More the taxes going if teachers are paying for their own classroom supplies? There has to be some degree of accountability regarding our tax dollars. We are the highest-taxed county in the nation and we can't afford notebooks and post-it notes? As a community member, I am not going to "lend a hand." I already do that with my tax dollars.
