Scarsdale PD: Thief Tried To Cash $20K Check

This was no small attempt to rip off a Scarsdale resident.

A thief attempted to cash a $20,600.07 fraudulent check, from a Scarsdale woman's bank account, at a Brooklyn Citibank branch. Luckily, the fake check was not cashed and the victim's account was spared, according to a Scarsdale Police Department report.

The Scarsdale woman, who uses Chase Bank, told SPD that no checks were missing from her checkbook and she does not know who the would-be thief could be. 

The fraud department at her bank and Scarsdale PD are investigating the January 17 incident.
