Scarsdale Police: $40K In Silver Stolen

Excerpts from the Scarsdale Police Log. The following information was supplied by the Scarsdale Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

A Tompkins Road couple reported to Scarsdale Police that someone stole $40,000 worth of silver from their home.

The couple told SPD that they last saw the Reed & Barton silverware on Thanksgiving Day, according to a police report. The missing items included two, $6,000, sterling silver trays; a 20-piece, sterling silver wine set and tray worth $10,000; and a sterling silver place setting worth $18,000.

The couple told SPD that there were no signs of forced entry and all the doors are locked when they go out, but the alarm is not always set.

Scarsdale Police took a deposition from the residents and the housekeeper. Police are investigating the case.
