Excerpts from the Scarsdale Police and Fire Logs. The following information was supplied by the Scarsdale Police and Fire Departments. It does not indicate a conviction.

Both the and Departments responded to a gas main leak on Wakefield Road.

On June 19, at about 11:25 a.m., a contractor "was digging a trench with a backhoe when he severed the gas main on Wakefield," according to the Scarsdale Fire log.

The contractor was digging in the middle of the road, attempting to remove a water pipe, according to the SPD report.

The SFD responded and closed off the road and evacuated neighboring residents. Con Edison arrived to shut off the gas and repair the leak.

No injuries were reported.
