Scarsdale Police Arrest Bronx Woman After Allegedly Driving Drunk, Crashing Into Tree

After allegedly consuming shots of tequila, a Bronx woman crashed her car into a tree on Walworth Avenue in Scarsdale early Monday morning.

arrested Denise Denis at 3:10 a.m. Monday, April 2, at 110 Walworth Avenue after allegedly slamming her black Nissan Altima into a tree on the sidewalk, according to a police report.

"The crash caused severe damage to the front of the vehicle," Police Officer Paul Zavadil stated in his report.

When asked if she had consumed alcohol, Denis replied she had "three shots of tequila." She later changed her story, police said.

"Ms. Denis was inconsistent with her account of how many beverages she had consumed stating that she had two beers and one shot, two beers and two
shots and then just two beers. She did, however, make constant reference to tequila," Officer Zavadil stated.

Police cited Denis, who had a BAC reading of .18%, with Driving While Intoxicated and Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated (BAC .18% or more.)

She is scheduled to appear in Scarsdale Village Court on April 4.
