Scarsdale Police: Burglary On Oak Lane

Excerpts from the Scarsdale Police Log. The following information was supplied by the Scarsdale Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Scarsdale Police responded to a report of another burglary this new year.

The housekeeper of an Oak Lane home reported to SPD that the home had been burglarized between Jan. 2 and Jan. 5 while her employer was on vacation. She had last checked on the home on Jan. 2 in the afternoon.

Police found "forced entry to a rear door" but the door remained locked, according to the police report. A second rear door was unlocked, and police investigated the home, finding the master bedroom ransacked. The home alarm system was not activated.

Police noticed the damaged door "had several pry marks on the exterior of the door and the damage is consistent with the use of a crowbar," the SPD report states. "It appeared that after several unsucessful attempts to pry the door, the suspect(s) kicked/shouldered the door open as the dead bolt was found on the floor several feet away."

SPD also discovered three sets of footprints in the snow near the home.
