Scarsdale Police Investigating Jewelry Theft On Colonial Road

A Colonial Road couple returned home Friday to find their home had been burglarized and jewelry was stolen.

The homeowners reported a burglary to on June 8, according to a police report.

The homeowners had left at about 6:00 a.m. and returned home at 4:30 p.m., finding the "rear kitchen door forced open (heavily damaged) and the master bedroom was thoroughly ransacked," the SPD report states. "The alarm keypad, located in the kitchen, was pulled off the wall and its wires cut."

Police said the alleged thief/thieves used a crowbar to "pry the rear kitchen door open to make entry."

A Verizon panel was pried open and phone wires were also cut, according to the police report.

The master bedroom was the only room that had been ransacked, according to SPD.

The couple reported miscellaneous jewelry had been stolen from the bedroom.

Scarsdale Police are investigating the incident.
