Scarsdale Man Arrested, Charged With DWI

Excerpts from the Scarsdale Police Log. The following information was supplied by the Scarsdale Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

An early morning accident on Friday led to the arrest of a Scarsdale man for allegedly driving while intoxicated.

According to the report, a Bronx man stopped at a red light at Popham and Garth roads in Scarsdale at about 12:44 a.m. on May 18. He was then rear-ended by another vehicle.

Police spoke to both drivers and noticed the striking vehicle's driver "swaying as he stood at the rear of the vehicle," the report stated.

The Scarsdale resident told police he had been at the Brazen Fox in White Plains and had "at least four Coors Light brand beers," according to police.

He failed field sobriety tests and an "alco sensor test," police said.

The driver was charged with aggravated DWI with a blood alcohol level of .18 or more and driving while intoxicated. He was released on $250 cash bail and is scheduled to appear in court on May 23.

If this is happening in a community like Scarsdale, then as a taxpayer I am irritated. Where are allRead More the taxes going if teachers are paying for their own classroom supplies? There has to be some degree of accountability regarding our tax dollars. We are the highest-taxed county in the nation and we can't afford notebooks and post-it notes? As a community member, I am not going to "lend a hand." I already do that with my tax dollars.
