Slew of Thefts Involving Unlocked Cars in Scarsdale

There were at least three instances of items stolen out of cars in Scarsdale over the past few days. The first theft involved more than $2,300 worth of items being stolen out of a car on Herkimer Road. The car's owner says the items were stolen out of his car on the night of July 1. A thief, or thieves, made off with a camera, golf clubs, a GPS, a golf bag, iPod, radar detector and eyeglasses. The owner of the car says he probably left his car doors unlocked.

On July 2 an unidentified woman who also lives on Herkimer Road told police that someone rifled through two of her unlocked vehicles overnight. She said that someone went into the cars and stole a roll of quarters after she left both of her car doors unlocked. Police asked neighbors if they saw anything suspicious overnight, but none of them were aware of anyone going through the neighborhood on that particular night.

On that same night, an Old Lyme Road woman told police that someone had rifled through her SUV. She told police that she noticed that $10 in coins had gone missing. She said she wasn't sure if she had locked her car doors.
