SPD: Caller Reports Alarming Screams In Scarsdale

Excerpts from the Scarsdale Police Log. The following information was supplied by the Scarsdale Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

A woman's screams alarmed one Scarsdale homeowner enough to call police.

According to the Scarsdale Police report, a Secor Road resident called SPD on September 26 to report he heard a woman "screaming as in need of emergency assistance."

The resident walked outside and told police he could see into the village's sanitation property, the report states.

"In a wooded area to the left, the caller states that he saw a male apparently seated or squatting and another male on top of what appeared to be a female," the report states. "The caller states that the female was screaming and pleading 'Why are you doing this to me?' and 'Mom!' or 'Mommy!'"

The caller told SPD that he saw a dark-colored sedan at the sanitation department's entrance. He described the two males, one as a Hispanic male with a short haircut or bald and the second as a male wearing a black shirt.

Scarsdale Police responded to the scene and "did not see or hear any other persons or vehicles," the report states.

Police checked the wooded area, the sanitation property, the bus yard, parking area and garbage area along with the Heathcote Bypass and Marjory Lane. Police also put out a broadcast to surrounding police departments.

"Patrol canvassed the entire area, as well as adjacent jurisdictions, and found nothing," Scarsdale Police Sgt. James Newman said today.

Police are investigating this case and no further information is available at this time.

If this is happening in a community like Scarsdale, then as a taxpayer I am irritated. Where are allRead More the taxes going if teachers are paying for their own classroom supplies? There has to be some degree of accountability regarding our tax dollars. We are the highest-taxed county in the nation and we can't afford notebooks and post-it notes? As a community member, I am not going to "lend a hand." I already do that with my tax dollars.
