A Yonkers man is in critical condition after his red BMW collided with a blue Saturn on the Sprain Brook Parkway early Sunday morning, according to New York State Police.

The two vehicles collided in the southbound lanes of the parkway, near the Jackson Avenue exit in Greenburgh at about 4 a.m. Sunday, police said in a statement.

It appears both were heading in the same direction "when they made contact with one another then struck the guide rail and subsequently both overturning onto the west shoulder," according to the statement.

The BMW's driver and sole occupant, a 25-year-old Yonkers man, "sustained internal injuries and is in critical condition."

The 24-year-old Queens man operating the Saturn suffered a broken leg, while his passenger "sustained minor facial lacerations" as a result of the accident.

Greenburgh Fire Department, Greenville Fire Department, Yonkers Fire Department, Yonkers Police and Empress EMS of Yonkers aided troopers at the scene.

"All parties were transported to Westchester County Medical Center for treatment," police said. "The cause of the collision is still under investigation."

Anyone who witnessed the accident or has any related information is asked to contact New York State Police in Hawthorne at 914-769-2600.
