Suspect Wanted in Connection with Scarsdale Burglaries

Scarsdale Police are trying to track down a suspect in connection with two burglaries in the village and 12 car break-ins. The latest incident involves a home that was broken into while the homeowner was still in the house. Because the investigation into that Thursday burglary is still ongoing, police have not yet released any details.

"We believe it is the same suspect(s) based upon the times and proximity of the incidents, but we cannot say definitively at this time," said Scarsdale Detective Lieutenant Thomas Altizio. "The MO’s are the same, and the video we have from two different incidents appears to depict the same person."

On Tuesday morning, a Scarsdale woman woke up to a burglar in her bedroom. Investigators say the thief broke in through the screen door of the Popham Road home. He stole a number of items, including a laptop and credit cards before he made his way to the bedroom.

The prowler ran out of the house after the 80-year-old woman woke up around 5 a.m. Police think the burglaries may be connected.

In addition to the two burglaries, police say the same individual may be connected to 12 unlocked car break-ins. All of the car break-ins happened in the Old Scarsdale, Fox Meadow and Greenacres neighborhoods along the Bronx River Parkway.

Police say the suspect is a male white or light skinned Hispanic, 5’08 – 5’11” who was wearing shorts and a dark colored shirt.

"… any residents that utilize home surveillance systems review the dates of 07/30/2013 through 08/01/2012 between the hours of 2:00 am and 5:00 am for any suspicious persons or activity and provide the information or video to the Scarsdale Police to assist our investigation," said Detective Lieutenant Altizio.
