The shoplifter tried to get away for more than $600 in clothes, according to police.

Police arrested a woman for shoplifting at Lord & Taylor in Scarsdale, after she tried to leave the department store with more than $600 in clothes, according to authorities.

Investigator say Nadira Sewah, 20, attempted to take off the anti-theft buttons on the clothes she had. But Lord & Taylor's security team caught up with her before she could get away, according to investigators.

The Bronx woman was turned over to Eastchester Police and appeared in Town Court on Wednesday in connection with the Monday incident. Sewah has been released on bail. She is charged with petty larceny.

If this is happening in a community like Scarsdale, then as a taxpayer I am irritated. Where are allRead More the taxes going if teachers are paying for their own classroom supplies? There has to be some degree of accountability regarding our tax dollars. We are the highest-taxed county in the nation and we can't afford notebooks and post-it notes? As a community member, I am not going to "lend a hand." I already do that with my tax dollars.
