United States Rep. Eliot Engel (D-16th) welcomed new Israeli Ambassador Ron Dermer to Washington DC Tuesday, where the two discussed several world issues including the threat of Iran’s nuclear program.
Ambassador Dermer, who was born in Miami, Fla., moved to Israel in 1997 and has worked worked within Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s inner circle as a political advisor for the past four years.
The two met in Engel’s office, and in addition to Iran, the pair discussed other issues important to the U.S./Israel relationship. Ambassador Dermer replaces Ambassador Michael Oren.
“I anticipate working with Ambassador Dermer on the many issues involved in our relationship with America’s closest ally in the Middle East,” said Rep. Engel in a statement.
Engel's Congressional District encompasses Eastchester, Bronxville, Tuckahoe and Scarsdale.
