Democratic Primary for 18th Congressional District Scheduled for Tuesday

Five Candidates are running for a chance to face U.S. Rep. Nan Hayworth, R-Bedford, in November's general election.

What do two village mayors, a Cortlandt physician, a New York City street vendor and a former presidential aide have in common?

Those are the choices residents of the 18th Congressional District have in Tuesday’s Democratic primary.

Matthew C. Alexander, Richard Becker, Duane Jackson, Sean Patrick Maloney and Thomas Wilson are all running for a chance to take on U.S. Rep. Nan Hayworth, R-Bedford, in November’s general election.

Hayworth currently represents the 19th Congressional District, but that district will be moved to the redrawn 18 Congressional District . The 18th District will include Bedford, Lewisboro, Pound Ridge, North Salem and Somers. All of Orange and Putnam counties, along with the southern portion of Dutchess County, are also in the district.

Thank you for this comprehensive overview on the candidates. To update the information on Richard Becker: he also has been endorsed by the Bedford committee, the mayor of Newburgh, and Westchester Legislator Peter Harckham. It appears that many of the John Hall volunteers have stepped up to support Rich. He will be the strongest against Hayworth and a wonderful representative for the Hudson Valley with his background, experience and passion on health care, protecting the environment, and creating good jobs.
