Greenburgh Delays Sale of former Frank’s Nursery Property

The Town of Greenburgh is rescheduling a planned December auction of the former Frank’s Nursery property - located at 715 Dobbs Ferry Road - until sometime in early 2014, Town Supervisor Paul Feiner announced Tuesday.

The auction was scheduled for Dec. 3, but Feiner said in a statement that the Town Attorney’s office is recommending the delay to allow more potential bidders to come forward. A specific date for the new auction has not yet been disclosed.

“The additional time will allow entities who have expressed an interest in purchasing the former nursery property, as is, at a price that would exceed $3.5 million, additional time to do their due diligence,” said Feiner.

Two potential bidders have previously expressed an in the property, but “additional entities” have come forward in recent weeks and “met with town staff and have advised that they are very interested in purchasing Frank’s at a price that meets or exceeds the $3.5 million minimum purchase price.”

Exactly how the property might be used is unknown, but potential uses include recreational facilities or single-family homes.
