Lanes Re-Open Along Cross County And Saw Mill

Crews working around the clock since Monday have finally re-opened the Cross County Parkway Westbound and the Saw Mill Southbound has one lane of traffic getting by near Rumsey Rd.

One lane of the southbound Saw Mill Parkway is now open after state contractors . The Cross County Parkway Westbound is also back to normal with traffic flowing well in the area.

Yonkers city officials said repairs to the water main may be finished overnight and thier estimate held true. By 7 a.m. this morning, both roadways re-opened to traffic.

A boil water advisory issued Monday by the Westchester County Department of Health for southwest Yonkers will remain in effect at least through Friday.

About 50,000 residents have been effected by the water restrictions, in some cases having no water at all.

For those who do have running water, the Westchester County Health Department is keeping a boil-water advisory in place. This is for residents and businesses in the area south of Ashburton Avenue to the New York City line between the Hudson River and the Saw Mill River Parkway. Folks must boil water before drinking it or using it to prepare food.

The Journal News reported a custom coupling was made by the New York City Department of Environmental Protection to repair the ruptured main.
