Scarsdale Board of Education Approves Budget Resolution

The Board of Education made the final budget approval at last night's meeting.

The approved the 2012-2013 budget resolution last night.

The will go before the voters on May 15.

BOE President Jill Spieler said the BOE has reviewed comments from the public concerning the budget.

"We appreciate the ongoing advocacy for quality education in our schools," Spieler said of the community's involvement.

Spieler thanked the Scarsdale Forum, the League of Women's Voters, the Scarsdale Teacher Institute, the parent teacher organizations and the community for their input during the lengthy process.

In the end, the BOE has put forth a "fiscally sound budget," the president said.

"We've been explicit in saying that the tax cap" was not the sole, determining factor in deciding this year's budget proposal, she noted.
