Scarsdale Holding Village Elections Tuesday

Village residents will be voting for village justices and trustees on March 20.

The Village of Scarsdale voters will be heading to the polls tomorrow in the 2012

Voters will be deciding on the new village trustees and justice.

Johhn H. Galloway III is running for the position of Scarsdale Village Justice. The incumbent is seeking another four years as justice. He has served since 1996.

Four candidates are running for three openings as Scarsdale Village Trustees. The two-year terms as trustees are volunteer positions.

Katherine Eisenman, Scarsdale Citizens' Non-Partisan Party, David S. Lee, Scarsdale Citizens' Non-Partisan Party, Jonathan I. Mark, Scarsdale Citizens' Non-Partisan Party, and Harry Reynolds, Scarsdale Outs Secrecy in Elections Party, are on the ballot. Eisenman and Mark are both incumbents.

Three of the candidates provided statements to the 2012 Voters Guide.

In her statement, Eisenman said, "My goal: To make Scarsdale a place where everyone is heard, is provided with excellent educational opportunities and is confident that their volunteer leaders look out for their best interests."

Lee stated, "My goal and philosophy is to bring integrity and open-mindedness to my work, both professional and civic, to respect all whom I deal, and to contribute to the community."

Mark stated, "The board acts as a body. Therefore, I approach board decision making by getting the facts, listening to competing interests and offering my best judgement to my fellow board members."

Reynolds did not provide a statement to the 2012 Voters Guide.

Village Clerk Donna M. Conkling said there are a total of 11,500 registered voters in the Village of Scarsdale. 

Typically during an uncontested election, voter turnout is about 200 to 300, Conkling said.

"Last year, 900 voters turned out to vote," she said. The 2010 election had 160 voters turn out at the polls, she noted.

The polls are open from 6:00 a.m. - 9:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday March 20. The voting booths are located at the .
