Within its brief, 10-minute meeting, the resolved several issues and unanimously approved minutes from its .
Also unanimously approved were the Finance Committee’s statement of expenses and revenues, the Land Use Committee’s acceptance of water main on a home property, and the Law Committee’s amendment to the lease agreement to upgrade wireless facilities for the village’s .
This upgrade involves “swapping out” and existing antennas and replacing them with new antenna panels to accommodate new technology to the tune of an additional $300 monthly.
“This will benefit the wireless people who come into the village and will also benefit the residents,” said Trustee Robert H. Harrison. “What is the amount, based on Village cost?” he asked. “It sounds like a small amount.”
Since April 2000 the Village has been leasing a wireless telecommunication pole from AT&T, initially installed adjacent to the Village Hall parking lot. Upon its April 2010 expiration the lease has two five-year automatic renewals if both parties agree.
In Aug. 2002, the Board of Trustees voted to amend the lease, authorizing AT&T to relocate the pole to the Village Hall roof and side of the Popham Road firehouse, and to remove the existing pole. The Board’s amendment to the Village’s wireless telecommunications law in Oct. 2002 allowed the Planning Board to approve wireless facilities to be installed by special permit.
Following a variance granted in Sept. 2011, and a Special Use Permit granted the following month, New Cingular Wireless (AT&T) can upgrade its wireless facility to accommodate 4G technology and better wireless service.
The Village Board reconvenes January 10 at 8 p.m. Calendar additions include a Personnel Committee meeting January 18 at 6 p.m., followed by a Law Committee meeting at 6:30 p.m.
