Temporary Jobs For NY Residents, Assisting With Sandy Cleanup

A federal grant will assist unemployed New Yorkers.

A federal grant will help 5,000 unemployed New Yorker's - at least temporarily. Westchester is among the counties eligible to participate in a program to hire workers to cleanup the devastation from Hurricane Sandy. The NYS Dept of Labor will oversee the program.

Anyone wanting to apply for a job under the grant can contact the Department of Labor at 888-4-NYSDOL or by visiting www.labor.ny.gov/sandyjobs.

Another temporary employment program: replacing FEMA employees who are out of state with New York residents in temporary positions. To apply for those temporary jobs, view details online at http://www.labor.ny.gov/jobs/regional.shtm.

About four years ago, I set up a jobs club. I post job openings on www.linkedin.com (Greenburgh jobs group) frequently. And, send out job postings to those who subscribe to a jobs email list. If you are out of work and want to be added to the list, please e mail me at pfeiner@greenburghny.com. If your business or place of employment is hiring, please advise so I can share the information with one of your out-of-work neighbors.
