Voter Registration Deadline Friday

October 12 is the deadline to register to vote in November's general election.

There is still time to register to vote, Westchester. If you haven't already registered, or officially changed your address, the deadline is Friday.

In New York, mailed registration applications must be postmarked by October 12 and received by October 17 to be eligible for the November 6 General Election. In person registration must be received by October 12.

Residents can download registration forms in English or Spanish from the county Board of Elections Web site.

Folks can fill out a voter registration form in person at the local Board of Elections office: Westchester County Board of Elections, 25 Quarropas St., White Plains, NY 10601.

Also in Scarsdale, folks have the chance to register in person at Village Hall today and on Saturday. Town Clerk Donna Conkling made the following announcement:

The Westchester County Board of Elections will be holding two days of Local Registration on Wednesday, October 10 from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm, and Saturday, October 13 from 12:00 pm to 9:00 pm in the Lobby at Scarsdale Village Hall. There will be four members of Board of Elections personnel on site to assist with the Local Registration.

Please note that anyone can fill out Voter Registration forms and Absentee Ballot applications at this time but they will have to be left with the Board of Elections personnel in order to be returned to the office of the Westchester County Board of Elections.

If this is happening in a community like Scarsdale, then as a taxpayer I am irritated. Where are allRead More the taxes going if teachers are paying for their own classroom supplies? There has to be some degree of accountability regarding our tax dollars. We are the highest-taxed county in the nation and we can't afford notebooks and post-it notes? As a community member, I am not going to "lend a hand." I already do that with my tax dollars.
