The the and HEINEKEN USA announced plans to keep residents safe this New Year’s Eve, through their annual “New Year Safe Ride” program.

The groups will provide free and safe rides home to Westchester County residents of legal drinking age celebrating New Year’s Eve in downtown White Plains.

Reinforcing HEINEKEN USA’s commitment to promote responsible consumption, a dedicated fleet will provide complimentary rides home for those 21 and older traveling anywhere in White Plains and throughout Westchester County.

“We’re proud to continue the ‘New Year. Safe Ride.’ initiative that encourages enjoyment of our products while reinforcing our values of safety and responsibility,” said Tara Carraro, Senior Director, Corporate Communications, HEINEKEN USA. “This program is a great way to kick off 2012 by reminding our consumers, colleagues, employees and neighbors to make responsible decisions if they choose to consume alcohol.”

Revelers can take advantage of this service between 11 p.m. on December 31 and 3 a.m. on January 1. The car service will be located in the heart of downtown, on the corner of East Post Road and Mamaroneck Avenue.

“Every year, thousands of people enjoy the tradition of celebrating New Year’s Eve in White Plains - a spectacular event in our great city - and it’s very important that they get home safely,” said Tom Roach, Mayor, White Plains. “White Plains-based HEINEKEN USA, is once again helping us keep our community safe by sponsoring the ‘New Year. Safe Ride.’ program."

Drunk Driving is a national issue during the holiday season, and year-round. Through programs like “New Year. Safe Call.,” HEINEKEN USA underscores  the importance  of responsible consumption and safe behavior as well as the significance of partnerships with communities and law enforcement.

"An intoxicated driver endangers not only themselves but us all,” said Westchester County District Attorney Janet DiFiore. "I applaud Heineken USA's continued commitment to prevent drunk driving by offering easily accessible alternatives that help to keep our roads safe for Westchester residents on New Year’s Eve, and throughout the year. Hi Leticia, Thanks so much for pointing this out. The link in the press release was outdated, sorry about that. There are no reservations to be made. You just show up between 11 p.m. to 3 a.m. on the corner of East Post Road and Mamaroneck Avenue and wait on line for a ride to become available. Not everyone is guaranteed a ride. We are posting our New Year's Eve 2012 Guide tomorrow morning, which will have information on the program and other taxi company information.

I'm glad that Heineken did the New Year Safe Ride program. We can't stop people from drinking, but we can try and make sure they aren't on the road after they drink. I completely agree with the last sentence, that the ride home should be the most uneventful part of the evening. http://www.villayellowcab.com
