Upcoming Discussion on the Good News About the 'Empty Nest'

From Platinum Drive Realty:

Platinum Drive Realty is pleased to announce that it will host a discussion for residents whose children have grown up and left home titled, “The Good News About the Empty Nest & Beyond.”  The event will take place on Tuesday, November 19th from 7:00 – 9:00pm at the Scarsdale Woman’s Club, located at 37 Drake Road.  Refreshments will be served.

The discussion will be conducted by Bill Doescher, a long time Scarsdale resident and licensed real estate salesperson with Platinum Drive Realty, and Linda Blair, published author and state-licensed interior designer with The Blair Interiors Group of Scarsdale.  Topics will include tips on how to get your house ready for sale, and exciting residential options in the area with less maintenance and lower taxes.

“Empty nesters are now able to pursue their dreams of independence by making changes, small or large, that reflect their situation now,” said Doescher.  “Whether or not those changes involve finding a smaller home and/or car, the game plan should be to create a long-term strategic plan just as you would for finances.  With the children gone, you can reinvent your life.”

The National Association of Home Builders says that buyers over 50 -- baby boomers, empty nesters, pre-retirees -- are the housing market's fastest-growing category.  People 55 or older bought nearly one-fifth of new homes sold in the U.S. in 2003.

“Empty nesters are less interested in how big a house is than in how well it lives,” said Blair.

“The 55+ segment of our population wants a warm and inviting environment that well planned interiors can provide.”
