Scarsdale Mom Starts Successful Jewelry Business

For jewelry shoppers in Scarsdale and beyond, a local resident has given them a new experience in buying jewelry. RedGinji, which launched this year, has caught on as an affordable way to find jewelry for gifts or for oneself. Rachel Chalchinsky, the owner and a 30 year veteran of the jewelry business, sought to provide a well-curated selection of pieces that bridged the gap between high-end and fashion jewelry. The collection mainly features pieces containing semi-precious stones set in sterling silver vermeil. RedGinji has many collections: handmade, ethnic, tailored and high fashion Italian. Gifts for Bat Mitzvah, Sweet 16 and graduation are just a few reasons to view the collections.

Quickly the business has spread to friends of friends and ultimately online to her website which recently launched: www.redginji.com

Over the past few months, Rachel and others have hosted parties to sell her pieces with an immediate response. One such party host, Doreen Rosenblatt, spoke to me about RedGinji and Rachel’s jewelry. Calling the pieces “exquisite” yet “affordable for everyone” she described a party she threw for 14 friends “all with individual tastes”. Everyone went home with a gift and some went home with several for their friends and family, Doreen mentioned, some of her favorites included the silver bangle bracelets and Hamsa bracelets.

Other patrons of the parties have said that RedGinji offers great pieces for a great price and that they were very pleased with Rachel’s specially selected items. Lucille of Armonk praised Rachel for her hard work in building a successful jewelry company and her trustworthiness as a businesswoman. In speaking with Lucille, she talked about how the jewelry parties served as a social event where the buying experience is shared among friends.

Rachel is growing her business and clientele by providing pop-up jewelry events in offices and at charity functions. RedGinji gives hosts 10% in merchandise credit for hosting a party in their home.
