Wine Classes at Stew Leonard's Wines of Yonkers

To educate and excite oenophiles of all levels, Stew Leonard’s Wines of Yonkers is offering four distinctive wine classes during the fall of 2012.  Led by wine specialist Paige Donahoo, students will have the chance to explore the classics plus learn about new, innovative wines from vineyards around the globe:

  • Thursday, September 27, 2012/Wine 101: A great introduction to wine where students will learn to swirl, sniff and sip. We will taste 4 of the most well-known and famous white and red wines as well as learn wine jargon and proper techniques of tasting. These wines will be paired with finger foods prepared by our chefs.
  • Thursday, October 18, 2012/California Wines: In this class, we will explore why California produces most of the wine in the USA and has become a world-class wine region.  Our chefs will prepare classic USA fare like sliders and apple pie to showcase these great Cali wines.
  • Thursday, November 8, 2012/Thanksgiving Wines: Sample and learn about a variety of wines to complement the perfect Thanksgiving meal. We will be matching the wines with and and sampling sweet potato gratin, Brussels sprouts with bacon, and forest mushroom stuffing.
  • Thursday, December 6, 2012/Champagne and Port: Ring in the holidays with two iconic holiday offerings: Champagne and Port.  We’ll discuss how to use these for stunning, easy holiday entertaining.  Our chef will prepare baked brie and fig and strawberries dipped in chocolate to pair with these wines for a decadent evening.


Each class runs from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. and will be held in a conference room located on the second floor of Stew Leonard’s grocery store.  Tickets are $25 per person.  Customers may purchase tickets by either by calling 917-375-4713 or buying them at the wine store.
