Report: Edgemont High School Among Top 10 in New York

Edgemont Junior Senior High School is the ninth-best high school in New York, according to a new study issued Wednesday by U.S. News & World Report.

The school, located in Scarsdale, is the only Westchester County high school in the top 10, but Rye High School was listed at number 11.

Chappaqua's Horace Greeley came in at number 19, and Yonkers Middle High School was number 20. Hastings High School was number 25.

New York's top high school was the High School of American Studies at Lehman College in the Bronx. The nation's top high school is School for the Talented and Gifted in Dallas, Texas.

The report bases its findings on "the key principles that a great high school must serve all of its students well, not just those who are college bound, and that it must be able to produce measurable academic outcomes to show the school is successfully educating its student body across a range of performance indicators."
