Scarsdale High School PTA Presentation Tonight

The PTA is presenting "Innovation in Action" at 7:30 p.m. tonight, Tuesday, December 4.

For parents, community members and students interested in learning more about Scarsdale High School's benefits to student learning, there is a special SHS Parent Teacher Association event tonight.

Starting at 7:30 p.m., the SHS PTA is hosting a presentation entitled, "Innovation in Action: A Look at The Scarsdale Education for Tomorrow Happening at Scarsdale High School Today."

The event is being held in the Little Theater on the third floor of Scarsdale High School.

The Scarsdale High School PTA will be spotlighting "the innovative instructional methods used in the curriculum today, fostering a focus on critical and creative thinking and complex issues taught in a cross-disciplinary approach," according to an announcement.

Scarsdale High School Principal Ken Bonamo and English Department Chair Ann Liptak will both be featured speakers tonight.

The public is invited "to hear how current and future SHS students benefit from the collaborative work being done by our faculty, right here, right now, and how this will prepare our students for tomorrow's challenges," the announcement states.

If this is happening in a community like Scarsdale, then as a taxpayer I am irritated. Where are allRead More the taxes going if teachers are paying for their own classroom supplies? There has to be some degree of accountability regarding our tax dollars. We are the highest-taxed county in the nation and we can't afford notebooks and post-it notes? As a community member, I am not going to "lend a hand." I already do that with my tax dollars.
