Construction will bring about reduced parking in the merchant's lot on East Parkway.
The following is an announcement from the Village Manager's Office: Contractors for the County of Westchester are planning to commence the construction and replacement of the Crane Road Bridges over the Metro North Railroad and Bronx River located alongside the Bronx River Parkway in the vicinity of Crane Road, by June 1. The $40M construction project will be completed in four stages over a 34 month period. In order to construct the project as designed, the County acquired five parcels from the Village, both permanently and temporarily. One of the parcels includes the temporary use by the contractor of a portion of the Merchant’s Parking Lot on East Parkway for the staging of construction equipment and materials. Members of the car club where Thomas Sullivan served as events director will ride this weekend in memory of him and his family. Originally dubbed the 'Fun Run,' the New York Z Car Club renamed Saturday's rain-or-shine event to the Sullivan Family Memorial Road Run Around the Mighty Hudson River. Proceeds from T-shirts—marking the event will go to Thomas Sullivan, Jr., the lone survivor of the fatal blaze. It destroyed the family's Carmel home, killing the Larchmont police captain, his wife and teenage daughters May 1. County executive says law is legally flawed and is not necessary.
Westchester County Executive Robert P. Astorino today vetoed a bill he said purports to guarantee women access to certain reproductive health clinics but is legally flawed and unnecessary. “The legislation is unnecessary, unfair and unconstitutional on its face, all of which put the public at risk,” said Astorino in his message to the Board of Legislators. “My veto is a principled attempt to spare our residents of these harmful consequences.” Legislators approved the bill on May 7 by a 10-7 vote. It was opposed by a coalition of pro-life and pro-choice legislators.
